Designing social deduction games can be a little difficult. You have to think of making a board, pieces for the game, written rules, ect, it can take up some time . It also has to do with the ten tools that "Mackin and Sharp" used. You have to have a goal with your game see with the game we played "love letter". The goal is to get your love letter in the princess hands while deflecting the other suitors. You also have to think of the challenge of your game in "love letter" the challenges are guessing and deduction. These are mental challenges and the game is based on this. Decision making comes into factor as well in " love letter" You have one card faced down and then you draw another card and you can look at both and choose one to play, if one of the cards a guard and you play it. Then now you face an obstacle because now you have to choose a player to guess what they are. There are like eight options that they can be so they have to make a decision on who they might think it is. You also are making a decision on what card is the best to play out of the two in your hand. So, you have to think of a challenge not just a mental one for the game you are trying to make. You will have to think of a theme of your game like in "love letter" the theme of the game is that multple people wrote a love letter that they are trying to get to the princess. Your game needs to have something that it is built around because if not then it will be a mess. A lot of problem that you will have to deal with. The last one is storytelling and context is where you can have your game telling a story of someone or using a new storyline to enhance your game. Where more people want to try it and see how the new storyline is. The last option of storytelling and context is making changes to the design keep your game fresh. All of this is a lot and it can be a challenge in making a social deduction game. The theme that I would use in my game would be close to the one in the game "CLUE" I love playing that game and if i can re design it I would. This theme would support the game because it would help you find the killer of the game.
